Your kind of afternoon

Follow the story beyond the famous name.

Dickens's London is closer than you think. Behind the busy roads lie Georgian doorways, quiet legal courtyards and corners that invite a second look. Wander from Bloomsbury towards Fleet Street with a little literary curiosity and room for a pub pause.

This six-stop walk brings together short stories, small missions and details to notice along the way. You do not need to have read the novels: bring a curious eye, follow the guide and decide for yourself how much of that Dickensian atmosphere belongs to the city, and how much belongs to its storytelling.

Out on the walk

What you'll do on the walk

Take a slow lap of Lincoln’s Inn Fields under the lawyers’ windows. Stand at the Georgian door where a famous name suddenly feels human-sized. Then meet a landmark that isn’t quite telling the truth, and decide whether to forgive it.
