  6. A surprise stop
    about 55 min

  • The walk is easy and mostly flat, with one steady climb through Greenwich Park up to the Royal Observatory. Wear comfortable shoes.
  • The guide suggests starting between 10:00 and 10:30. That leaves comfortable time to reach every ticketed site before its 16:30 last entry; set off after 13:00 and you will be cutting it close at the Observatory.
  • The guide is free, but some of the stops charge for entry and tickets are not included. The Old Royal Naval College grounds are free and open daily; the Painted Hall is paid and open 10:00 to 17:00, last entry 16:30. Check opening times and prices on the official websites before you go.
  • The time allows for going inside. If you only want the outdoor route and the views, it is much shorter.
